Resumen

El estudio de la historia de la frontera norte de la Nueva Esparia representa un caso notable dentro de la historiografia norteamericana. No siendo, strictu sensu, parte de la historia de Estados Unidos, ha recibido una gran atención por parte de los investigadores de ese pais desde hace más de un siglo. Los estadounidenses han podido acuñar y consolidar corrientes, conceptos teóricos y escuelas historiográncas alrededor del estudio de lo que ahora es el suroeste norteamericano, guiando las investigaciones de los académicos de otras nacionalidades.
