Abstract

The general objective of this article is to describe the different components in which the public policy to promote the social solidarity economy was reflected during the 2018-2024 presidential term, evaluate its specific results, and discern the causes of such results. The main motivation of the study responded to the interest in elucidating the reasons why a progressive and left-wing government had not included the actors of the social solidarity economy that in other international contexts have demonstrated the potential to contribute to the economic and social inclusion of marginalized sectors of society, as well as to promote a better distribution of wealth and effective protection of the environment. In the Mexican case this was not possible due to the predominantly statist and neo-developmentalist change strategy implemented by the government team in power.
