Contributions of the Sembrando Vida Program and social solidarity economy to mexican agricultural development
Abstract
This article examines the Sembrando Vida Program (psv) of the López Obrador administration (2018-2024) from the perspective of the social solidarity economy (sse). This program aims to develop rural areas through direct support to small agricultural producers in order to achieve sustainable production, promote food commercialization and improve their living conditions. Through qualitative research, it was identified that the program did not aim for beneficiaries to form cooperatives, which is mentioned as desirable, but was not promoted in practice. The article concludes with statements by President Claudia Sheinbaum (2024-2030) on the continuity to the psv through sse and rural cooperatives, detailing a strengthening proposal through sse and education-training of farmers as cooperators that enable them to integrate cooperatives that root them to the territory, ensuring the production and marketing of their products and contributing to the socioeconomic development of the Mexican countryside.
