Identification figures in child development
Abstract
The objective of this article was to compare how the audiovisual culture influences children, aged four to five years, depending on their gender. To achieve this, an exploratory qualitative research was carried out following the research question: How do audiovisual cultural devices impact preschool children depending on their gender? The analysis was divided into stages of primary and secondary identification, with their corresponding sub-stages. Finally, it ends with the search for gender identity. This research allowed us to observe the change of identifying figures depending on gender and age, and we noticed how girls refer to princesses, internalizing and repeating ideologies rooted in our society. In the same way, men begin to inculcate the patriarchal image from an early age, solidly marking the existing gap between the two genders.
