Antonio Fuentes, Leandro Gamallo y Loreto Quiroz (Coords.) (2022). Vigilantismo en América Latina: violencias colectivas, apropiaciones de la justicia y desafíos a la seguridad pública. Clacso-buap-icsh “Alfonso Vélez Pliego”. ISBN: 978-987-813-308-9
Abstract
Vigilantism in Latin America is a first effort that analyzes the diversity of citizen practices that have emerged in a context marked by (in)security and crime. Among them, the emergence of armed groups or cases of lynchings occupy a notorious place; however, there are many other social responses that reproduce punitive and vigilante ways of inhabiting cities. Thus, this book explores the particularities of each vigilante expression throughout the continent, without neglecting those theoretical and conceptual resonances that allow us to speak of shared experiences.
