Presentation of the Main Theme. Approaches to Community-based cultural policies in Latin America

The text complies with the presentation of the dossier on community-based
policies in five Latin American countries. It also presents what the authors
believe are the conditions in which these policies have been forged at the
continental level. In this sense, there are relevant regional and global subjects.
Among these are different social movements, mainly indigenous, but
also urban, feminist and environmental processes that have been affected
by global neoliberal policies. There are also clear cultural demands based
on ideals of identity and autonomy, among which those promoted by the
Cultura Viva movement almost the entire subcontinent stand out
